I have put some self adhesive aluminium tape on the bonnet edges with Vaseline to lubricate. The paint on the bonnet edge was rubbing off in the area of the curve down. It does protect the folded bonnet edge but so far has needed replacement .
I think on my car the drivers side bonnet curve sits tight to the bulkhead tape.
I have thought of rubber strips instead of the bonnet tape but will wait until the next tape replacement to try some.
One thing to watch for is that the tacks used are not protruding to contact the bonnet. I punch mine down.
