We went to see the film at the Showcase Cinema this afternoon. What a powerful film! Showed the full horrors of war and being in colour (mostly) makes it much more relatable.
One of the things that shocked me was the men saying that it was the best time of their lives and some saying that they were really disappointed when it was over. A perspective that I hadn’t even considered before. They also struggled when they returned home because no one that hadn’t taken part had any concept of what they’d been through.
