Cut the stick to shorten the shift, cheapest mod and makes gear changing more fun.

Thanks for the advice and picture. I think this is the route I will take. Tim Ayers reckons about an inch can be taken off which, I think, will be enough to make the difference. Selection of reverse will not be affected.
