No ticking for me...
1. I use a
CTEK connected to the 12v accessory port in the car. Never had a problem starting after its been on this (on original 3 yr old battery)...
2. When overnighted at RTTC twice this year and the battery failed to start the car on both occasions. I took their suggestion to check and top up the battery - found the water levels low. Carry a Lithium booster pack in case of issues on travels though...
