My Dad would screw the lids to the underside of shelves and then put screws etc. in the containers thus doubling the use of each shelf.
Exactly what I do.
Yes the garage is full of miscellaneous containers used to store all sorts of things. Sadly some are storing fresh air since I cant bring myself to throw away something that " will come in useful some day".
