Apologies if I have mentioned this in an earlier post in another thread but I am now very wary of people touching the paintwork of my car as a result of seeing what happened to my son's car after one of his children inadvertently touched the doors around the handles after he had applied sun cream. It wasn't wiped off thoroughly enough straight away and there are now an indelible prints on the door which are still visible many years later despite all efforts to remove. I think that it must have resulted from a chemical reaction between the cream and the lacquer over the metallic paint which, being gunmetal grey, shows up quite markedly. This may not happen on solid colours and I generally wouldn't have worried too much about this sort of contact if I hadn't seen the consequences for myself.
