As suspected, the warranty man has said that the paintwork on the inside face off the wheel would not be covered.

No idea Nick. Rest assured that if it had been a brand new car I would have been making a much bigger deal of it.
I am unable to show either that the wheel left the factory like that or that the previous keeper hasn't had some form of bodged 'out of sight, out of mind' paint repair done on the wheel in the short time he owned it.
Coupled with the fact that the selling dealer is some 2.5hrs away, I can't pop over for a chat.
I just hope that the rear wheels are tip top like the F/N/S when I get chance to whip them off and await delivery of my expensive spare with some trepidation
