There is an excellent article in February's Motor Sport by Andrew Frankel who drives a P34 (It also has a photo of it on the cover titled "When F1 was
Radical".
Whilst he says that Scheckter was, and remains to this day, dismissive of the P34, it was Depailler who urged it on. As enthusiasts of the era know, it was none of the P34's apparent shortcomings that were responsible for its downfall, but that it was let down by its Goodyear tyres and their lack of development.
I won't give any more away as it is worth buying Motor Sport just for this article, excellent stuff indeed.
