Both versions had shallow fronts to the sump.
The difference is that the SD1 sump has the smaller but deeper oil well, with a bout 50% of the sump very shallow. The Range Rover sump is about 1/4" less deep but the well is bigger, about 70% of the sumps length.
Both sumps had their "well" towards the rear.
