Phil, it's a great stroke of luck in disguise that your health has taken no greater harm. Hopefully you both will soon be well again. I don't know the Pass and found this youtube video. I can't judge if the bikers in this video rode fair. I have never driven a motorcycle. But you can see that it is a very dangerous road.
https://youtu.be/QjR8ft-CV_U Other than going fairly quickly there were a few overtaking moves that were a bit questionable but I didn't see anything particularly out of the ordinary for motorcyclists. I probably would have been a bit more careful in a few places and have slowed down in others: parked cars, crossroads, etc.
Other than the road surface not being so good at a few points I don't see it as a particularly dangerous road however it could become one with inappropriate speed.
