Sounds like anti-tramp bars are needed more than a panhard rod in this case. This will stop the leaf spring wind-up under hard acceleration and consequent tramping, which I believe is what you described. Needless to say fit in pairs. I only mention this because for a brief period MMC tried to get away with using just one on early Roadsters
