I don't think I would risk trying this on the car. The exhaust is a one person job, pretty simple to remove, and once you've done it, it's about 8 minutes to remove both sides. (not that you need to remove both sides). And if you are going to try and 'lean' on it after heating, you will want it solidly restrained, not subject to the flex of the rubber mountings under the mufflers.
Yep, chaining the muffler down to something and then heating to put a slight bend at the muffle end of the pipe is what I would do. I have done a lot of forging, welding and fabricating of mild steel but never stainless so the concepts are not foreign to me. Look at the ironwork that goes into making a true 18th Century piece of field artillery and you can see the sort of things I have done.
This is the weld that MMC produced and is the one off angle.
