Thing is, when you're doing a mile every 30 seconds, it needs a decent time interval. Even an extra mile out is only another 30 seconds. Sounds like it needs recalibrating.
The treadles should have been measured out for distance. Should also have been fail-safe. I'll see what I can find out.
