I think the best balance between look and grip might be the Moto-Lita Wood but THICK rim. It's an option and I've seing pictures. It doesn't look bad but it's clearly closer in thickness to the original leather one mounted by MMC.
Wood thick rim and leather gloves should work properly for a nice grip…
Anyway, about the look, it depends on the whole vehicle. I see M3W much "RAT" and sporty on which a Wood steering Wheel would look off-side.
