Hello Everyone,

I know I'm mad (stupid) - everyone has always told me - ask my wife & family!!

An unusual story:
I have always had lots of different cars, from fully electric BEV to Porsche 964,986,997, 997.2, 981, Spyder, Elan, TVR (all of them nearly) Phev i8, 330e, 530e, Panamera, M series plus a host of early MG's etc

My quest for something different and uniquely British brought me to Morgan.

In 2015 I purchased a M3W - car no.4, a very early 2011/12 model - this car had been the SGT demonstrator.
As is necessary with the early vehicles it went through a full set of modifications/upgrades/improvements - I won't remember all of them but, MMC Stage 1, decat, recon BB, rectifier, supermax sprocket, urban cooling kit, clutch, lower wishbone upgrade, cam chest upgrade, pedal box replacement - original 'm3w' ones were too close together for my big feet, rear hub, fuel pump, steering wheel spacer, blockleys, new exhaust mounting brackets to allow a heat shield to cover the MMC Stage 1 exhausts, Centa inserts fully chassis replacement by MMC - a pretty extensive list, plus others I've probably forgotten.

In December 2017 (needing garage space) I traded the car at a non franchise dealer - infact this was the point I purchased an i8 (couldn't be further apart really).

I knew as my M3W was taken away on the low loader it didn't feel right - nothing I have ever owned has given as much joy, thrill of driving & frustration in equal measure!

We are just in the process of building a new garage block and had agreed with my wife that eventually I would like to buy another M3W to add to the garage - she said that would be OK when the garage was ready, however she reminded me of the upgrade path/cost - how I would struggle to locate car that was as well sorted as my previous one

That was on 2nd August 2019. The next day(Saturday) I did a quick search online - just for interest/information really - couldn't believe what I found.
There was my old M3W - just having been listed (less than 24hrs earlier) on ww.carandclassic.co.uk - what a stroke of luck!!

Needless to say we arranged to go to view, much as I left it except for the addition of a set of easy start cams, and the removal of some of the decals - we purchased the car and arranged to bring it home on 15th.

It wasn't all good news however - the whole transaction cost us significantly more than we had realised in December 2017.

We negotiated as hard as we could but ultimately we are in excess go 5k out of pocket!

I've yet to hear of anybody else stupid/silly/mad enough to buy back his own car at a 5k premium?

Overall, Im really pleased to be back, I retained all my gear/helmets etc from the first time. Driving the car feels like it has never really been away.

This little car is now a keeper, any of the others can & will go before this - certain

I look forward to a few more modifications - maybe roller rockers & stage 2 or 3 and Phil's Centa modification/upgrade

By the way the garage is just at lintel stage - so probably should be ready by the end of the year!

Fingers crossed

Thanks for all your wonderful support and encouragement on TM in the past - I look forward to contributing when I can going forwards.

Regards
Andrew
