The white material is thermally conductive grease to make sure the module can transfer heat to the base plate. Smear it between the baseplate and the electronic module

Graham: found the help page at the top on right hand side. Very comprehensive with regard to electrical testing of the coil and what to do. A bit technical for lil Ole me, but I will print it out, laminate and take to the shed for reference.
Thats if I can now find my glasses, BTW found the keys but lost the glasses in the process! doh
