Additionally the self adjusting system does not actually work optimally.

I have got much better results from the manual adjustment than I could ever achieve with the later system. As an added bonus the former is simpler to dismantle.

Perhaps the only plus point is that the handbrake actuation does away with the "spear" mounting that can puncture the fuel tank under extreme deformation.
