It isn't until you move to something like the Michelin Commander II or Pirelli Night Dragons that you get an appreciable improvement in performance but that is at the expense of a reduced tyre life, less than half the mileage of the Blockley I would say. The big improvement I noticed with the Michelin tyres was the braking with no lock up, unless you really pushed hard on the pedal. They also fit under the mudguards better, you don't have to remove (or loosen) them to take the wheel off.
