It seems that Wiltshire Police are taking a rather relaxed view of what is, or is not, essential driving.
I haven't seen a Police car other than the odd Panda car in Salisbury, since this all started.
But that is normal, since Salisbury Police Station was closed a few years ago the policing of South Wiltshire seems to have vapourised.

Possibly one reason is that there are just 24 Traffic Officers to cover 1350 sq miles and thousands of miles of rural roads. There were close to 200 in 1999.
Earlier this year the Police said that they had given up preventative policing of the roads, they can only respond to serious incidents.
