How much oil drains back through the pump into the sump? Or can it even do that?


I've started doing the same routine of draining the sump after it's been standing for more than a few days and tipping it back into the tank before firing it up. Might be subjective but the times I've done this the engine fires up really quite easily instead of needing lots of churning over before deigning to burst into life. Maybe the load of pumping all that cold oil?
