If I had to guess I would chance my arm at "(renault F1) we made promises about where the car would be and he made us write it in the contract, oops." and so he is free to go walk about. It seemed odd when he signed for them? Not that I don't wish they were doing better and there was a tighter fight.

Doesnt really make sense that one. Renault is a works drive. McLaren is a customer drive and will never have quite the same engine whatever the rules say. So why would Ricardo step down? I wonder if Renault have decided not to continue long term.

I don't believe that Renault would have beaten McLaren this year based on the form they showed last year. McLaren have shown a real turn around in 2018/19. I am guessing that they got him on board on a promise that they were finally going to give it the whole punch and fiscal backing. Once again they have not delivered which I am sad to say has been a bit of a story around Renault in F1. I am guessing that Mr Ricciardo had a clause that gives him an out if they don't hit the promised levels and this year has probably left all contracts up in the air in both directions. I always thought it odd that he joined them.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
