Although not exactly the same as the problem you are having, I recently had a closely similar problem on my ‘61 Plus 4 and the culprit was a faulty light switch. If you can swap out your switch with a known working one at least you can rule that out as the cause. A new switch solved my problem and at very minimal cost.
