Why is it not proper engineering Dave? From what I have seen "normal" suspension systems (involving coilovers) dont even have a rebound spring. Negative travel is only limited by the damper with a (usually hydraulic) bump-stop system. If you need 1/2" travel to get the pre-load off the rebound springs, you have 1/2" of falling rate suspension, in the area of travel you use the most. I think the set up on my (MkIII) roadster is preferable. Cheers J
