My lower spring was totally free, lowered as low as it would go through the hole in the bottom arm. Used the threaded rods to control the release of the lower spring and fixing plate. Stub axle assembly sitting on lover arm of cross head. Top spring still over 2 inches too long to fit in the available space. WishI’d measured the free length while it was out. Maybe I did, I’ll check my notes later
