This maybe a little contentious but watching the new programme Vintage Voltage on Quest this evening, I find the whole bastardisation of converting a perfectly good classic vehicle to battery power is not in my book the way to go. The vehicle in question was VW Karmann Ghia and was costing the customer £25K just to convert to electric plus a few upgrades. I am not exactly a fan of battery vehicles but if it is to be done use a kit car and don’t mess up a very presentable vehicle.
For all that expense and extra weight it only has a 150 mile range??

There's probably some value in taking a knackered old motor and refreshing it with electricity - if it's the motor that's knackered. I spent a chunk of change on rebuilding the seized engine in my Stag in 2015; if I had the same problem now I'd be very tempted to make it electric.

I'm not so sure about removing a functioning engine - though some companies do it so that the process is reversable, which makes some sense.
