If you search there are three or four comprehensive threads on fitting LED lights giving excellent recommendations on solutions.

I think the only time MOT legality cropped up is fitting bright LED Daylight Running Lights (DRL) bright bulbs into side or wing mounted side lights. The MOT issue was do the DRL have to dim when headlights are dipped? I checked on DVLA web sight and concluded they "do have to dim where dipped headlights on".

I found a DRL voltage sensor relay which in addition to DRL + and - feeds to DRLs also had an input line from the dipped headlight feed and, as soon as dipped headlight selected the DRL got half voltage.

I have just completed my DRL installation in wing mounted bullet lights by disconnecting lights from side light circuit and connecting to Radio feed so as soon as position 1 on ignition key selected DRLs come on. The DRL feeds go through relay to wing lights.

The DRL relay worked but I have to say the amount of DRL dimming was marginal but noticeable.

That said my car goes in for MOT on Wednesday so I will find out if it is acceptable!!. Keep you posted
