The GPS will most likely be more accurate anyway, I use a digital dashtop readout of speed taking data from the OBD2 port and it's around 5 - 8% high

Jon, I assume your car is still very much Ford based? I wonder if a Ford dealer could improve your speedo accuracy? There are many parameters that can be adjusted on the Ford ECU’s using the dealer software including the rolling diameter of the tyres and axle ratio.
