I checked my oil for the first time today. I saw one bar right when I opened the tank. The oil was level with the top of it. I figure that will do and screwed the top back on.
Don't forget to run the engine for a few seconds before checking the oil level. This ensures that any oil that may have drained into the sump is pumped back into the oil tank where it belongs.
Do not drive the car with excess oil in the system as this will cause over-pressurisation that can cause problems such as oil tank structural failure. I speak from personal experience!
