I am a big fan of the electric soup
I have only ever heard it called that by Willie Rushton, I was a big fan of his writing.
I guess it was a general Private Eye thing of that era. In Richard Ingrams and John Wells "Dear Bill" letters, they frequently have Denis Thatcher referring to the electric soup in his missives to his friend Bill (assumed by most to be Bill Deedes).
