The Portugese fans were bonkers in Italy .... daren't think what they'll be like on home turf 🙂 ... Hillclimb in Europe is a very different thing .... paid 'works' drivers, big transporters, big teams very high profile .... not F1 but at least F3 level .... whereas in the UK it's an amateur sport with family and friends as crew and cars paid for out of the driver's pocket ..... they weren't used to the friendly 'family' atmosphere in the British team ...looking after each other's kids while drivers took their turn at the hill, helping each other with spares and spannering between races and partying and eating together in a big mob in the evenings .... that sort of thing is rare at the top there.
Big fan base though who are wildly enthusiastic and dedicated
Looking forward to Braga.

Ps ... If it's anything like here, the 'classic' hillclimbs are very serious .... scares me rigid seeing how hard they push with no roll bars or seatbelts .... at my local hill, Doune, the only time we've needed the air-ambulance recently was a mad historic driver getting chucked out of his rolling car (no drivers were permanently harmed in the production of this post🙂)
