Confirms my suspicions. I'm always wary of aftermarket electronic devices. OE stuff is usually well designed, developed and manufactured. Even Lucas!
I've found 123 distributors to be well made and reliable so I'll stick with the stock setup until it gives me any trouble, then bite the bullet and go with a complete 123 unit.
