I saw a +4 once that had a modified octagonal wheel nut holding the spare wheel in place.
I preferred that look, to the two eared spinner being shown.
It would also offer a degree of added security.

Security is all very well, but when I went to assist a fellow Morganeer who had suffered a puncture, I found that he had secured the spare with a steel cable and padlock. The padlock was so corroded as to be impossible to unlock with the key. Someone else then came along with a pair of cutters, but impossible to cut the hardened cable! So RAC had to come to the rescue, delaying the journey by almost two hours!
