I can attest to the fact that the Humber toll bridge has ANPR in the tag lane that not only reads black and silver number plates but square ones mounted on the wing of historic Land Rovers.

On a recent visit to Hull my brother gave the advice that I could use the tag lane if there was a long queue in the normal toll lane. He didn't explain that it was now card only payment of the modest £1.50 charge and they hadn't updated their card collection system hence queue. I took his advice and back home a few hours later went online to pay. No charge against this vehicle the website said. Tried again over 24 hours later and same result. Meant to check again but forgot. Then yesterday an hour over 7 days late remembered. Sure enough it came up with £16.50 (£15 late admin) to pay scared

Lesson learnt - brilliant ANPR, crap data updating.
