I don't know the answer to the question of the missing filter but looking at my parts books for the 4/4, the 2006 onwards book shows a fuel filter (as +8Rich's pic) and the 2014 onwards book does not show a filter (I assume it's in with the pump). So somewhere in that time frame it's been moved.
This info might just save Dani the time of looking for something that is not there!!
Cheers

Thank you all for help. I think the filter is in combination with the pump in the tank.
I've been thinking and my motorbike, also with an injection pump, also has a ridiculous filter on the pump in the tank. I'm going to choose to fit a nice filter in the engine bay, just not sure how to manipulate the original fuel line to get it to work.
to install it properly. Preferably with the plugs that the original Ford filter has. Or I will do something else. Not sure yet. But I don't like just a filter in the tank as they are very coarse and don't have a system for condensate. I could of course pour some alcohol into the tank to dissolve the condensation and burn it off. But thank you very much for your effort!
How do you get the plate out so that you can look at the tank from above? That way you can also get the pump out of the tank, right? Or do you have to remove the tank for this?
