Ran to the local cycle shop today to get my inspection done for registration and title (don't tell the gov that I've been driving for months without paying their ransom).
Mentioned to them that I need to do my first oil change as I've already gone past the 500m mark. They recommended a fancy filter they sell that's alleged to be higher filtration and also higher flow than the S&S OEM filter. They've installed it on many S&S X-wedge motors over the years and have had nothing but great success with them. The shop has been in business for many years and came highly recommended by several riders. I can't imagine they'd have lasted with bad advice/service.
So I sprung for this and a case of Amsoil synthetic.

Pulled the sump plug as well and the magnet had a fair amount of fine metal particles. Motor seems to run smoother already after a short drive around the neighborhood. Will keep everyone posted on the filter.
