Heinz, it may be me who is somewhat sensitised relative to the effect that I imagine a Porsche (or indeed any iconic sports car) can have on other road users..? That effect imagined or otherwise began to bug me when I gave up on a Porsche for fun motoring circa twenty five ago, and went back to m/cycles to enjoy the "B" roads hereabouts.

No more that fifteen minutes into my first drive in the C4 while on an interesting B road just cruising along circa 50mph I found an ambulance close behind, no blues and twos, just too close..! Next series of bends I held pace and the ambulance dropped well back as expected, but on the next strait he was back there again. sigh.! Round a few more bends and knowing the road and that there was a straight after the next bend, once round the bend I slowed enough to encourage the ambulance to pass which he did...and once on his merry way, I found that there was a police car tailing behind which I may have sucked out of his hiding place too, as they ever like to keep at least one or two vehicles between them and their prey when on the hunt..Hmm..?

Could all be a figment of my imagination which I hope it is, though as for "respect"... not in these parts Heinz, resentment seems more likely to be par for the course....more is the pity. I guess time will tell. Perhaps a run in the old Morgan is all I need to restore my faith in human nature as it seems to bring out quite the best in folk, whereas a Porsche seems to bring out something quite different..?
