My mower loves 98 Octane premium unleaded.
As to the Plus 8, all the bits of the fuel system that MMC sourced from BMW or VDO will be fine. The other bits might need replacing. The only part that concerns me is the long run from tank to engine, and the return. All the rest are easy to get at and replace as the circular cover is easy to remove.
