Every adolescent male should make at least one visit to the Cider Bar in Newton Abbot to understand scrumpy.
https://www.facebook.com/yeoldeciderbar/Conveniently the hospital was across the road but is now probably closed.
Yes John it's an in town Sainsbury's now and the hospital is vastly improved and has a new build ( 5yrs ish ) out by B & Q so handy for hip replacement odds and ends if they run out of bits.
You wouldn't recognise the place now the expansion is incredible but unlike our locality it has affordable housing at present which is great for the younger workforce just setting out.
It's East Street that Heather's great grandfather lived and worked as a Journeyman Shoemaker so he will have supped at the Cider bar for sure.
Ridgways shoes (opposite the library) finally closed last year and we went along and Heather managed to buy 4 pairs and I managed to get a pair of trainers under duress, it was a bit sad really as we often used the shop as they specialised in the good quality German brands that Heather likes.
