It seems to me that the shift away from NMC batteries to LFP is inevitable as they are much lower cost and much safer when punctured. The issue of lower energy density seems to have been overcome by BYD in China and therefore it looks like manufacturers will be able to produce cars at a compatible cost to IC cars using these batteries.
This will give the BBC an opportunity for another programme - How Tesla have devastated economies of the Congo as a result of a shift away from Cobalt.
