I made up a small injector from brass bar and fitted it in a sandwich plate between the carburettor and inlet manifold. A piece of plastic micro-bore tube then connected this to a needle valve flow restrictor which drew water from a windscreen washer bottle mounted on the inner wing.

The bottle was then filled with water with a few drops of washing up liquid (to reduce the surface tension). The vacuum under the carb. sucked water through and the flow rate adjusted with the needle valve.

Many weeks of experimentation with flow rates resulted in some rather fascinating findings regarding performance/economy. None of this is scientific just britches arse engineering. But it worked.

If I remember correctly, an introduced air bubble would travel through the tube 1" over 1 minute on tickover for the best result. I could easily get 35mpg out of my 1600 X-flow when all my mates were struggling to get 30.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the size of the hole in the injector or the bore of the tube I used, it was small though 1-2mm at most. Just some stuff we had kicking about at work.
