The pivot 'ball' on one of my black ones cracked, from what looked like over tightening, based on the deformation. I was able to reshape the pivot ball and do repeated tack welds to repair it. Some metal finishing, new powder coat, and recontouring of the mounting hardware and it's been all good for the last couple of years.
