funnily enough I've stuffed a lotus elise into a tyre wall at a track. I left the track at exactly 86mph on the speedo and hit the tyres around 150 yards later - backwards...
That car survived - althouth the insurance were more concerned about the fibreglass shell. With a car worth 10k and a new shell, with labour and paint to replace was >5k at the time, making the car a write off. Despite the serious impact, the tub was undamaged..
As mentioned, if the car was travelling at enough speed to spin multiple times to damage all the body panels, then it's only sensible to check the tub. If the impact was not heavy then it's probably fine, but always best to be safe...
