Maybe it depends on whether you have “breakdown cover” or full blown AA or RAC cover.
A puncture might count as a breakdown but as soon as you admit you clobbered a stone, it becomes an accident. Green flag do make a mention that they will recover you after an accident but will charge! As always, it pays to read the T & Cs before buying.
