For those who don't know: the name jeans is derived from the fact that the material used was originally died blue in Genoa, or used die from Genoa, and was obviously known as Genoa Blue. Yet another Italian invention. The material itself came from the French town of Nîmes, hence the name Denim.

PS. Don't blame the Italians for the blue stain. It probably now comes from China.

PPS. The Australian equivalent of jeans are a beige material and are called moleskins. The origin of that material is also French.
