Am I reading this correctly? Range anxiety in a petrol car? Surely that should be for an EV?
I am currently in the Lake District stopping over en route home from Scotland. Trad Plus8 doing about 31mpg. I try to use E5 whenever possible but it was scarce in the outlying regions. Many small petrol stations are card only in the places I went with a money option not volume to choose. Never dropped below 1/4 tank and topped up with reasonable amounts of E10 so if an E5 supply was found then room for it.
I’ve never run the tank empty. On my 4/4 I drained the tank as part of a system service ( new pump, extra filter, new flexi pipes) and took the opportunity to measure 1gal into the empty tank to see what the gauge showed as a failsafe.
9 l of “ unusable” fuel because of tank/pick-up pipe, pump protection seems odd. Is there a plan to change this?
