My 2002 car with Gems efi and Morgan Aluminium rad runsat...
Winter...80deg
Summer....90deg.
It is sensitive to lack of airflow an£ the coolant goes up to about 97deg and the fan cuts in to drop it to about 85deg so the thermo switch seems to be a 85/97 version. Stuck in traffic showsit up. It has only overheated to 100+ when the fuse blew and the fan failed to cut in. Happened on the way to Windermere/ Scotland a couple of weeks ago.
I am planning a manual override switch to cater for this ( only happened twice.).
I’ll look at blanking off airflow that misses the rad core to improve through flow. I am testing a makeshift air duct aimed at the rad bottom as my front numberplate has an extension panel rearwards that deflects air past the lower rad area. I have a temporary cobbled together duct in place and will do running tests with the OBD scanner running to see what coolant temp does. No big rush but over- winter tests. No actual overheating but the fan cuts in too often due to the apparent system being on the cusp with limited cooling capacity.
