I certainly remember B Road Britain. I actually went to the trouble of recording them all and editing them to remove the adverts so I could keep the whole series. A few months later they released the DVD! I still have both.
Ten years before B Road Brtain was the excellent Coltrane's Planes and Automobiles, in which he described the history and workings of various types of transport. He was able to explain things in a simple but non-patronising way and I always thought he was woefully underused as a presenter of that type of programme.
