I concur. Mine lives outside under a cover (and a very annoying Lime Tree). A soon as the cover comes off the car is either filled with leaves, seed pods or covered in sap (depending on the time of year).
I do clean her a couple of times a year but I find it a chore, not a pleasure. Do the majority of the work on her myself, so my mechanic is not fussed about an immaculately clean engine bay. Most of my customisations are there to enhance my driving experience.
The joy of a slightly tatty Mog is not getting stressed out by a dropped tool, a stone chip etc. All adds to the patina
