Thanks everyone - to contributing to this this thread. Its been very helpful.

The time difference makes me a little less responsive than I'd like.

So, drilling out the tapered hole, with a 14mm bit it is.

As I've dismantled all the steering, it would appear that I have the wrong kit. I have the first generation kit (with the female threaded spacers), and the resulting assembly won't fit without creating serious toe-in. I assume that what I need is the one in the instructions kindly posted by Chris.

My rack end has about 36 threads, which (installed with spacers) would look different than the installation in the photo posted by Andy.

Surprises me as my car is supposed to be September 2012 build.

I'll try and source the later female Heim joints.
