A quiet night in, resisting the temptation of so many loverly restaurants here in the deep south that are offering a Burns Dinner...
My treat was to pour from a sample bottle that's been sitting in the drinks cupboard for a couple of months - a 2007 Caol Isla. It's lovely, light, vanilla/honey with a hit of salt & seaweed. Just to my taste.
The joy is that it's from my own cask - there's another 375 or so bottles, should I choose :-)
& not to be too serious, [death, taxes] if you're looking to move £ out of your estate, whisky in bond attracts neither CGT nor inheritance tax - HMRC reckons the angels' share evaporation makes it a diminishing asset , and levies no tax on growth or your estate.
Better yet, as a rule of thumb, the older it gets, the more it's worth.
Which does make the dram taste all the sweeter.
